Vienna landmark walks: the centre first, palaces later

Vienna’s cathedral and opera make a natural central pair. Belvedere lies beyond that compact centre, while Schönbrunn is farther west. Separating the palaces avoids turning a short collecting walk into a cross-city transfer.

Choose the walk that fits your day

A smaller first outing

Connect St Stephen’s Cathedral and the State Opera through the central streets. Leave time for pauses instead of adding a distant palace by default.

When you have more time

Choose Belvedere for a longer southward outing, or travel to Schönbrunn and start a new walk there. Check the grounds and building access independently.

These are our editorial route suggestions, not measured itineraries or an accessibility assessment. Live Trails build from nearby available Charms and may select different stops.

The Vienna collection, stop by stop

  1. 01

    St Stephen's Cathedral

Start at the city’s central landmark. Religious services, interior visits and tower access have their own arrangements.

  2. 02

    Vienna State Opera

Use the opera as the other end of your central walk. A building tour or performance needs separate planning.

  3. 03

    Belvedere Palace

Make the palace a deliberate extension, leaving room for gardens, entry points and any booked gallery visit.

  4. 04

    Schonbrunn Palace

Treat Schönbrunn as a separate destination. Plan transport first rather than expecting a central Live Trail to include it.

Visitor access comes first

Passported is free to download, with optional in-app purchases. It does not include attraction tickets, transport or permission to enter private areas. A Charm may be unavailable if its pin cannot be reached safely and legally. Never cross a barrier, road or waterway just to claim it.
