Prague landmark walk: Old Town to the castle side

Prague’s four Charms divide naturally into Old Town and the castle area. The river crossing connects them, but the climb and visitor access make the castle side a deliberate extension rather than an automatic final stop.

Choose the walk that fits your day

A smaller first outing

Begin at the Astronomical Clock and walk towards Charles Bridge. Allow time for the narrow lanes and other visitors, especially around the clock.

When you have more time

Cross towards the castle district when you are ready for the ascent. Prague Castle and St Vitus Cathedral are close together, but their access arrangements still matter.

These are our editorial route suggestions, not measured itineraries or an accessibility assessment. Live Trails build from nearby available Charms and may select different stops.

The Prague collection, stop by stop

  1. 01

    Astronomical Clock

Start beside Old Town Hall. A public view of the clock is separate from a tour of the tower and interiors.

  2. 02

    Charles Bridge

Cross at a relaxed pace, stepping out of the main flow before checking your next stop.

  3. 03

    Prague Castle

Plan the uphill approach and check current entry arrangements. A short map distance does not account for the climb.

  4. 04

    St Vitus Cathedral

Visit as part of the castle-area outing. Follow local signs and religious-site rules, and skip claims in restricted areas.

Visitor access comes first

Passported is free to download, with optional in-app purchases. It does not include attraction tickets, transport or permission to enter private areas. A Charm may be unavailable if its pin cannot be reached safely and legally. Never cross a barrier, road or waterway just to claim it.
